Evaluations
Evaluation missions for the European Commission to assess the performance of the EU’s capacity building programmes in the field of Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA).

Such evaluations are short term and contribute significantly to enhancing the EC Commission’s practical empowerment of third countries to compete in the world’s trading economy;
Such missions have included:
Vietnam, to assess a programme to enhance capacity in relevant Ministries to deal with WTO participation
Bangladesh, to assess a programme to equip Ministries to fulfil Bangladesh’s role as the lead LDC country for the post Doha situation
Gambia, to assess the capacity building needs of Gambia to allow it to play a role in the EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Europe
China, to assess the performance of EU/China collaboration in the field of trade cooperation
Pakistan to review an innovative programme to enhance Pakistan’s trade capacity run by ITC, WIPO and EC Commission

Michael Hindley has been an election observer for the EU Commission in Palestine (see also articles) and in Togo (2010).
